Tribeach acquired a storage warehouse — originally built in 1897 —  that was used for fruit shipments arriving on Hudson River. The building had not been upgraded much over the years, and it required all new systems, services, and vertical circulation and finishes, including restoration of the historic façade.  To increase the ‘light and air’ for the rear windows, the entire wall was relocated. The demolished floor area was built on the roof to create two spectacular penthouses.  The new rooftop addition had to comply with new building code requirements, including earthquake and fire safety; the new core and party walls supported it independently. All work had to be approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
